(Video tutorial) Nacho Ordinary nachos

Who loves game time food?  I do.  It’s always quick, simple, easy to eat, and fun!  We all know it’s game season so what better way to enjoy the game than to put together a quick and simple dish that will please friends, family, a crowd and let’s not forget about the kids!
So one of our game time favorites is to whip up some nachos!  But, these aren’t just your typical nachos.  Oh know my friends these are NACHO ORDINARY NACHOS!  Lol.  I top these bad boys with veggie goodness.  Not only are these fun to make they are simply delicious!  I used ground turkey to keep it lean and you can opt for lactose free cheese dip/sauce if need be.  I usually put lactose free cheese on mine but everyone else seems to do just fine with the dip.  It is really good I tasted it myself.  If your gluten intolerant corn chips are your go to.  If your not a fan of ground turkey use your beef, beef lover.  But, I guarantee you if you try this recipe I just might convert you.  Let’s get started with this recipe shall we?

Here’s what you’ll need:
  • 2 pounds ground turkey (I used dark meat)
  • 1-3 bags of nachos
Toppings of your choice here are my suggestions:
  • jalapeño peppers (to taste)
  • banana peppers (to taste)
  • 2 cups diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped green onion
  • 1 cup chopped cilantro (to taste)
  • sliced black olives (we used a half of a can)
  • 1-2 cups sliced and diced lettuce
  • guacamole pico de gallo (you can make it homemade or purchase it)
  • cheese sauce (2-3 jars)
  • sour cream (to taste)
Herbs and Spices:
  • 2 tablespoons of Italian herbs
  • 2 teaspoons of oregano
  • 2 tablespoons of steak seasoning OR 2 tablespoons of tomato chicken bouillon
  • 2 teaspoons of black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes (or to taste, you can omit this ingredient if you like)
  • heavy pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons of onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon of minced garlic
Nacho-Ordinary-Nachos-ingredientsIn a bowl combine your ground turkey with all of your herbs and spices.  Once combined in a bowl brown your ground turkey in a skillet spraying your pan first with non-stick cooking spray or by using vegetable oil.  Your meat should be done after stirring and turning for about 15 minutes.  There shouldn’t be any pink areas in the  meat.  Remove your turkey and place in a bowl for serving.  Next, you can chop all of your ingredients and prepare them for topping your yummy nachos.  You can heat your cheese sauce in a saucepan or in the microwave which ever is easier for you.  You can even use a small Crock Pot.Nacho-Ordinary-Nachos-top-view
I place each topping in a separate bowl so that everyone can choose which toppings they would like to try.  I try them all that’s why their Nacho Ordinary Nachos!  Okay there is a method to this madness so prepare in this very important order.  I’m just kidding but it is good this way.  Step one place the nachos on the plate.  Step two add you nachos.  Step 3 add your ground turkey.  Step 4 add your heated cheese sauce.  Step 5 add your lettuce.  Step 6 add your other toppings.  I try to keep the jalapeños towards the top so I can see those bad boys.  Lol.  Finally I top it all off with a dollop of Daisy sour cream.  Seriously!
We have a video tutorial showing you how we bring it all together.  This is the perfect game food, you’ve got to  try this one out!  Even though it seems to have a lot going on, it is super easy and simple to put together.  I mean it’s nachos people.
Give this recipe a try and tell me how yours turned out.  Until next time Beautiful Nesters!
