(Video Tutorial) DIY Hot Cocoa Bar w/Recipe

There’s nothing better than a hot cup of cocoa and a crackling fire.  During the fall season take advantage of those wet and chilly nights with a delicious homemade cup of cocoa.  That’s right I said homemade.  Sorry Swiss mix not today.  Today I’ll show you our fun and festive Fall Hot Cocoa Bar!  If you haven’t tried this for your friends or family this is a total hit for any gathering.  You only need the minimum ingredients and a few décor items and your done.  So let’s get started!
DIY Hot Cocoa Bar ingredients
We are going to upgrade this cocoa just a bit, from your typical cocoa mix or box cocoa.  The Ghirardelli cocoa gave the hot cocoa a rich deep flavor and it is so delicious!  Here’s what you’ll need:
  • 1/2 cup ground cocoa (we used sweet ground cocoa from Ghirardelli)
  • 4 cups of milk (we used lactose free milk)
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • marshmallows
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • heavy pinch of salt
DIY-Hot-Cocoa-Bar-CrockPotIf you need more you can double the recipe to suite your needs.  In a Crock Pot you’ll add your milk, sugar, cinnamon, cocoa, heavy pinch of salt and vanilla to the pot.  Turn your Crock Pot on high and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.  Stir your cocoa to ensure that all of your ingredients are well incorporated.

Yummy!  Okay, now time for the fun part!  Not that making the cocoa wasn’t fun enough!  We will now create “The Bar”  the Fall Hot Cocoa Bar that is.  I picked up some really inexpensive items to create this bar.  It’s not about spending a lot of money it’s about creating the experience.  We decided that creating this cocoa bar wasn’t good enough to show you guys in pictures soooo, we decided to put together a video tutorial to show you how we did it!  Yes, I know your so happy right?  Not only was this about hanging out with family sipping cocoa by the fire we decided to have our weekly/bi-weekly family game night!  Omg!  This is getting better and better.  Okay hold on to your hats.  Check out our post we created just for you so you can get inspired to do a bonding game night with friends and family.  Now back to creating this bar.  So save time and money and hit up your local Dollar Tree and Walmart.  I found the ribbon and mugs at Walmart and found that cute squirrel at the Dollar Tree.   I even found some beautiful fall décor on clearance at Big Lots!  Save money and get creative.
DIY-Hot-Cocoa-Bar-the-barPlace all of your beautiful finds on your table to display all that cuteness!  Let’s not forget we eat/drink with our senses!  So try to create something a little magical.  One of the coolest finds were those candy corn shaped marshmallows and the coconut covered ones as well.  They were a hit!

That’s it!  A fun, festive and delicious recipe and DIY.  You can totally do this!  I’m so excited for you to give this DIY a try.  Stay tuned for our Christmas version of this festive bar.  Leave a comment below and tell us how you put together your cocoa bar.  Don’t forget to share this post if you like it and subscribe my Beautiful Nesters!  XoXo Sandria
